Inauguration of Extension Centre ,Weavers Service Centre, Srinagar, Location: Janipur Jammu Date: 23-02-2022 Inauguration of Extension centre, Weavers Service Centre, Srinagar, office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, at Janipur, Jammu under the guidance of Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce (U.T. of J&K) Mr. Ranjan Parkash Thakur, inaugurated by the Director Handicrafts & Handloom Jammu, Dr. Vikas Gupta on 23rd of February 2022 along with Joint Director Handloom, Jammu, Dy. Director (Planning), Dy. Director (Training) and other officers and officials from Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Jammu. Further, Mr. Tahir Ahmad Hakim, Assistant Director, Weavers Service Centre Bemina, Srinagar were also present at the event. The Demand for said Weavers Service Centre was pending since 2004 on behalf of the weaver community of Jammu. The Centre will play a pivotal role in upgrading and promoting the craft of weaving in Jammu Division by providing Technical assistance, Skill upgradation trainings through Samarth Scheme and Awareness regarding various Welfare Schemes. It will further facilitate weavers to get GI Registration and Handloom Marks.
